Trisha replaces Shriya Saran

After the continuous success of Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Pollathavan, Dhanush’s latest pongal release film ‘Padikkathavan’ yielded moderate collections even though Sun Pictures gave a Mega Opening for the film with their advertisements.

The next venture of Dhanush is not yet named but it is being produced by Kathiresan from Pollathavan Producer Group and the film is directed by Vetrimaran. After ‘Thiruvilayadal Aarambam’, scintillating Shreya was booked as female lead for the film opposite Dhanush. But the director did not utilize the call-sheet of Shreya as he could not start the film as scheduled. Considering that her dates may clash with her other projects Kanthasamy (pairing Vikram) and Jaggubhai (pairing Sarathkumar), Shreya voluntarily wanted to sign-off from Dhanush film. She was even ready to return the advance given to her for the film. But the producer and director did not agree and they lodged complaint against Shreya in producers association. Shreya registered her grievance in actors association. After all these happenings, director has not started the film. So, Shreya quitted from the project. Now, ‘Saamy Maami’ Trisha is booked in place of Shreya as heroine of the film. I would say it is a better choice because Shreya acted only in one film in 2008 that too special appearance in ‘Indralohathil Na Azhagappan’ after Sivaji and ATM in 2007. But Trisha is fully loaded and ready to perform after her recent hit ‘Abhiyum Naanum’. Both of them have 3 more tamil films in hand which are under filming now.

Oh! I have forgotten to give justification of the title. Trisha is born on May 4, 1983(she is 25 now) and Shreya is born on September 11, 1982(she is 26 now). So, younger the curve you get to see is cooler to watch. Enjoy!

Namitha - Magnanimous in looks and in heart

The Government is making Actors and Actresses as Ambassadors for HIV AIDS, Polio Drops, Child Labour, Tuberculosis campaigns to easily attract general public and create awareness among them. We all know that Namitha has a soft corner for HIV effected kids and she often aids them in Pondicherry Communicable Disease Centre. Namitha also sponsored public toilet projects in commercial areas of several states, mainly for ladies.

Nymphet Namitha, in a recent public event, pleaded her fans to come forward to donate their eyes and organs after their death. By doing this they can give life to others who suffer without those organs and also they live through their organs even after their demise. She said that she has decided to donate her eyes. With this statement she proved that she is not only a bombshell but also big-hearted.

The Surat based Sizzling Siren Namitha came to a function recently wearing saree. She was asked why not she wears sarees in films as she looks ravishing in sarees also. Namitha admitted that she looks cute and gorgeous in sarees but the directors do not allow her to wear sarees in films. They give dresses which expose her well-endowed and curvaceous body and exhibit her voluptuous assets.

The Mother of Sri Aurobindo Ashram & Her Quotes

To know the Mother is to know the Divine. To let Her Force work in you is to evolve. Her sweetness invades our nerves when we call Her into our being.
Mother was the very incarnation of the Transcendent Adiparashakti. Sri Aurobindo said Mother was an Avatar and an incarnation of the Divine Transcendent Shakti.

Divine Child:

The Mother was born in Paris on 21 February 1878. Mira, as the child was named, was the daughter of an Egyptian mother Mathilde Ismaloun and a Turkish father Maurice Alfassa.
Mira was an exceptional child. Her being an exception was not known to her until later in life when she met Max Theon, her teacher in occultism and Madame Theon.
Little did Mira’s mother or Mira know that she was a Divine child meant to preside over the affairs of the world and to try an evolutionary experiment in her own body to evolve the first member of the next species, which Sri Aurobindo called Supramental Man.
Mira was a Divine Being and she was attended by several beings in times of need. She had special divine attention at all times of her life.
Her early life was set on a search for the Divine and that was the one thing she was interested in. Her later life was dedicated to the ideals of Sri Aurobindo.

Search for Guru:

Around age 20, her ‘search’ was intense and yet she did not know what she was searching for. She met an Indian in Paris who sensed her deep aspiration. He suggested she read the Bhagavad Gita and she obtained a copy of it in French and she understood the substance of it. What normally takes decades of tapasya for rishis, she was able to realise in a few short months while in the middle of Parisian life.
In her frantic search for the Spirit, the only guidance she had was her daily meditation. Even at a young age, she was in contact with her inner soul and was guided by it in her daily life.
In her meditations she saw several spiritual figures, all of whom offered her help of one type or another. Among them she saw a dark Asiatic figure whom she called to herself ‘Krishna’. Krishna guided her inner journey. Later in Pondicherry when she met Sri Aurobindo, she recognised him at first sight, “It is He, my Krishna”.
She married Henry Morisset and had a son. They divorced and she later married Paul Richard, a politician. Between 1911 and 1913 she gave many talks to various groups of spiritual seekers in Paris.

Visit to India:
Paul Richard, who was seeking election to the French Senate from Pondicherry, visited the French colony to organise electoral support. During that visit he met Sri Aurobindo too. During his next visit to Pondicherry, Mother accompanied him. Mother was 36 at that time. On 29 March 1914, she met Sri Aurobindo. At once she recognised him as the master who for many years had inwardly been guiding her spiritual development. Sri Aurobindo, while engaged in a conversation was conferring on her the boon of Akhandamounam, Eternal Slience. He was transferring it to her casually without her asking for it.
After staying in India for eleven months, she was obliged to return to France because of the First World War. Mother spent a year in France and four years in Japan before she returned to Sri Aurobindo on 24 April 1920.
From 1920 she started organizing Sri Aurobindo Ashram efficiently. At the time the Mother rejoined Sri Aurobindo, a small group of disciples had gathered around him. After her coming the number of disciples increased. Eventually this informal grouping took shape as an ashram or spiritual community. She had to start with lessons in keeping material things and books in proper order and proceed up to the full Integral Yoga.

Mother of Sri Aurobindo Ashram:
It was in November 1926 that she was officially made Mother of the Ashram. Under her guidance, which extended over nearly fifty years, the Ashram has grown into a many-faceted community which at present consists of about 1500 persons. The Mother also founded the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education in 1951 and the international township Auroville in 1968.
On 17 November 1973, at the age of 95 the Mother left her body.

What an Ordinary Man get from Mother?

At the first stage of civilisation what changes is behaviour. In the second stage of culture it is character that changes. Below that remains the consciousness of Man, untouched and unchanged. Only when this changes from pettiness to nobility, from falsehood to truth, can human life turn into Life Divine.
Falsehood is found in several forms. They are poverty, illness, mental pain, human impurity, imperfection, disharmony, etc. If the ordinary man relates to Mother, Her Truth and Power reduce these forms of untruth and finally abolish them.
All that Man is called upon to do is to totally surrender himself to the Divine. In practice, this is done by meditation, selfless work and an adoration of the Divine in one’s prayers.
Mother says she does not represent a philosophy, a religion or a sect. She says she is a Force of action, a creative force that can new-create.
Mother had a special rapport with flowers. She has given names to 800 flowers basing herself on their spiritual significance. She says flowers have feelings of pride, vanity and sensitivity.
Mother said India would become the Guru of the World. India is the country where spirituality is developed to its heights.
Almost all Chief Ministers, Governors, Presidents, Vice Presidents and all the Prime Ministers have come to Mother seeking Her blessings.

Mother’s Quotes:
  • The best way to express one’s gratitude to the Divine is to feel simply happy.
  • At each moment of our life, in all circumstances the grace is there helping us to surmount all difficulties.
  • There is no greater courage than that of recognising one’s own mistakes.
  • There is no greater victory than that of controlling oneself.
  • If man surrenders totally to the Divine he identifies himself with the Divine.
  • Let us do our best in all circumstances, leaving the result to the Divine’s decision.
  • Open yourself more and more to the Divine’s force and your work will progress steadily towards perfection.
  • Only those who are already very sincere know that they are not completely sincere.
  • All sincere prayers are granted, but it may take some time to realise materially.
  • Let us progress ourselves, it is the best way of making the others progress.
  • It is always a mistake to complain about the circumstances of our life, for they are the outward expression of what we are ourselves.
  • It is our lack of faith that creates our limitations.
  • There is no greater courage than to be always truthful.
  • Whenever there is any difficulty we must always remember that we are here exclusively to accomplish the Divine’s will.
  • Whatever is the difficulty if we keep truly quiet the solution will come.
  • In each human being there is a beast crouching ready to manifest at the slightest unwatchfulness. The only remedy is a constant vigilance.
  • The Truth is in you – but you must want it, in order to realise it.
  • The power of the human intelligence is without bounds, it increases by concentration that is the secret.
  • The resistance with which we meet in the accomplishment of our work is proportionate to its importance.

Padikkathavan Movie Review

Movie : Padikkathavan
Genre : Action
Cast : Dhanush, Tamannaah, Prathap Pothan, Sayaji Shinde, Suman, Atul Kulkarni
Director: Suraaj
Music : Manisharma
Produced by : P.Venkatrama Reddy, B.Bharathy Reddy
Banner : Sun Pictures

Story:
Hailing from a family of well-educated persons, Radhakrishnan alias Raki(Dhanush) could not complete his 10th Standard. His friends advice him to marry a well-educated girl to hide his illiterate image. He meets Gayathri(Tamannaah), an aeronautical student, helps her and proposes his love to her instantly. Gayathri refuses initially but later falls in love when he saves her from the goons of Chinna Reddy(Sayaji Shinde). When Gayathri is attacked for the second time, her father Samara Simha Reddy(Suman) comes to her rescue and takes her away to their native place Andhra. Raki learns about the tussle between Samara Simha Reddy and Chinna Reddy and goes with Assault Arumugam(Vivek) to Andhra to marry Gayathri.

Raki saves Gayathri once again from the goons of Chinna Reddy in Andhra and gets the consensus of her father for marriage. While Raki goes to railway station to return to Chennai to bring his family for marriage, he is attacked by the thugs of Kasi Anandan(Atul Kulkarni), a Tirunelveli Dada. Raki understands from Samara Simha Reddy that he unknowingly killed Kasi Anandan’s brother while he had been to Tirunelveli for his sister’s exam. Raki meets Kasi Anandan and explains him that he unknowingly killed his brother and seeks apology. But Kasi Anandan invites Raki to fight with him and if he conquers, he will be freed from his clutch. Raki wins the battle and marries his sweetheart.

Analysis:
First half of the film looks realistic and suits Dhanush viz. Prathap Pothan pricking Dhanush for not completing his 10th, Dhanush doing odd jobs for everyone in family, his love with Tamannaah, etc. If we assume that the story would go a full circle and the family would realize the worth of the son one day, we are mistaken. After the entry of Suman and the story shifts its locale to Andhra, it looks like a telugu film and the subsequent scenes are unrealistic and illogical. Dhanush family does not come into the picture at all after the few scenes in the beginning. Climax reminds us the climax of ‘Run’ film.
As far as the performances are concerned, Dhanush has given his best in comedy, fight and song sequences. But wishing to give a hat trick after the success of Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Pollathavan he has not tried anything new and his performance resembles his previous films Pollathavan and Sullan. Eventhough Dhanush has improved his physique significantly it is hard to believe that he can take on a whole lot of thugs at the same time(Dhanush please be realistic in your future ventures). In a commercial plot, Tamannaah just delivers what is expected of her. Vivek’s wig and his looks resembles lyricist Vairamuthu. His comedy track begins on a different note but he irritates when he tries to pass off as a woman. Comparing to the director’s previous comedy track in Thalainagaram and Maruthamalai, this is below average and ‘Padmashree’ Vivek also does not claim this as one of his best.
Big Villains Suman, Atul Kulkarni and Sayaji Shinde(why he shouts aloud?) are wasted in small roles. Director Suraaj promises initially in some scenes with twists viz. in the introduction of Atul Kulkarni, sudden murder of Atul Kulkarni’s brother and when we learn Sayaji Shinde men are following Tamannaah & not Dhanush, etc. but he fails to keep the momentum going and drifts into illogical and unrealistic route. Mani Sharma's music as well as re-recording, A.A. Venkatesh's camerawork and Thalapathy Dinesh's stunts add value to the film.

Final Comment:
First half of the film is OK but the second half tests your patience. If you are not able to see Padikkathavan movie in theatre don’t worry a lot. It will soon be screened on your favorite satellite TV (SUN TV).

Villu Movie Review

Movie : Villu
Genre: Action
Cast: Vijay, Nayanthara, Prakashraj, Vadivelu, Anantharaj, Manoj K.Jayan
Direction: Prabhu Deva
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Banner: Ayngaran International
Producer: C. Karunamoorthy, Arun Pandian
Released on: 12th Jan 2009

When Hero Vijay is introduced with a fight sequence saving a local area girl followed by ‘Rama Rama’ song, a typical Vijay intro song, the Director makes it clear that he is going to present Vijay as a super hero and the film is targeted at Vijay diehard fans.

Vijay(Pugazh) acts as a Villu of police officer Manoj K.Jayan. As directed by him, Vijay catches an international dada after a lengthy fight sequence in sea. Then he goes to meet Nayanthara(Janavi) to gain her love which is later revealed as a part of his mission to meet her father Prakashraj, another international dada. In the meantime, there are duet songs, comedy track of Vadivelu and one more fight sequence. Vijay meets Prakashraj in Zurich. As per his advice, Vijay kills Prakashraj’s rival, another international dada in a fight sequence in aero plane, acting as his son. Vijay double-crosses Prakashraj also and couriers the important evidence, a blue ray disc, to Manoj K.Jayan. Nayanthara listens to Vijay’s conversation with her father Prakashraj and misunderstands him as a gunda. Here director Prabhu Deva realises that he has screen played only songs, comedy and fight sequences till now and forgotten to add sentiment. Inspired by Hindi film ‘Soldier’, he reveals a flashback through Geetha(to Nayanthara) which goes as follows: Vijay’s (Pugazh) father is Major Saravanan (Vijay), an honest army officer, was on the verge of capturing three army officials(Prakashraj and another two Dadas later chased by son Vijay) involved in trading of weapons and ammunitions to terrorists and narcotics, but was brutally murdered by them. The men framed him as a terrorist and stripped off the medals and commendations from his dead body just before his cremation. Villagers refused to cremate Saravanan's dead body in their neighbourhood considering he is disloyal to the Country. Manoj K.Jayan is father Vijay’s friend who is away on duty while all this happens. Rest of the film after flashback is about how son Vijay takes revenge and removes out the terrorist image from the name of his patriotic father.

Vijay, with no change in get-up, hair style or acting from his previous films, shoulders the entire film single handedly. I would say he has come up to the expectations of his fans and children with his dance, fight sequences and mannerisms. Nayanthara disrobes to flaunt her cleavage, navel, thighs; she shows everything except acting. Though the comedy track by Vadivelu does not accompany the story line, it is the only redeeming feature. Prakashraj, Ranjitha, Anantharaj, Geetha, Sriman and Manoj K. Jayan just deliver their dialogues and they don’t have chance to deliver expressions. Songs composed by Devi Sri Prasad are nice to hear in the theatre. Ravi Varman’s Cinematography though not exceptional serves the purpose. FEFSI Vijayan’s fight stunts are too lengthy.

Final Comment:

If you wish to again learn (a+b)2 = a2+b2+2ab, you are welcome to watch this formula film, son taking revenge over his father’s killers. Others just wait for DVD.

Poo Movie Review

Movie: Poo
Genre: Love
Cast: Srikanth, Parvathi
Director: Sasi
Music: S.S.Kumaran
Produced by: Moserbaer, Nesagee Cinemas

Story:
The story is about an innocent rural girl, her love, aspirations, dreams and sacrifices. This script is adapted from the short story titled 'Veyilodu Poi', written by S.Tamil Selvan.

Mari(Parvathi) loves her cousin(uncle’s son) Thangarasu(Srikanth) from childhood. She strongly believes that she can only take care of her cousin perfectly. Even if she can’t marry him, she wishes his wellbeing and she is not ready to wipe out her love for him. Thangarasu goes to Chennai to study Mechanical Engineering. Several attempts of Mari to convey her love to Thangarasu while he is in Chennai go in vain. Thangarasu returns home after finishing his degree for his sister’s marriage. Mari again tries to convey her love but fails. In the meantime, Thangarasu’s father, after learning from his son that he cannot earn 40K to 60K like computer engineers do, fixes his marriage with the daughter of a local oil mill owner. A girl friend of Thangarasu who came to attend marriage of his sister reveals him Mari’s true and deep love for him. Thangarasu realises the fact and wants to marry Mari. But his father, a bullock cart driver, wants his son to settle down so that he can retire from hard work. Moreover Thangarasu’s friend reveals him the demerit of consanguineous marriage. Finally, Thangarasu marries mill owner’s daughter. Mari’s brother wants her to marry a small grocery shop owner before the marriage of Thangarasu. Mari accepts that too considering Thangarasu should not feel guilty that he ruined her life. But when Mari learns that Thangarasu is not leading a happy life with his wife and he is harshly treated by his wife, she realises that her sacrifice has gone in vain and starts crying. With that sad note the film ends.

+ Points:

Parvathi as Mari, on her debut in Tamil Cinema, has done her role with élan. She is aware of the saying ‘Acting is not reacting; it is behaving’. She absorbed the character very well and delivers emotions naturally and effortlessly. Everytime she listens the name Thangarasu, her face glows like a 1000 watts bulb and her eyes glitter is good to watch. Eventhough the entire screenplay revolves around her she fastens us with the seat with her lifelike and fascinating performance. I will not be surprised if Parvathi is nominated for best actress awards for this film.

In a heroine oriented subject, Srikanth has little role to play. But he portrayed his role neatly.

Inbanila as Mari’s friend(Cheeni) and Ramu as Srikanth’s father(Penaakarar) show plenty of potential and put up good performance.

Debutant S.S.Kumaran deserves accolades for his superb songs and background score in this film. Especially ‘Choo Choo Mari’(Parthasarathy, S.Mirudula, Srimathi), ‘Sivakasi Rathiye’(Periya Karuppu Thevar – is not his voice resembling Gangai Amaran?) and ‘Aavaram Poo’(Chinmayee) are magnificent. Lyrics of Na.Muthukumar and S.Gnanakaravel reveal affinity of the soil. P.G.Muthiah with Camera captures the rural charm on to the screen. Screenplay, Dialogues and Direction are handled by Sasi. Hats off to Sasi for his courage to make a heroine oriented subject and bringing out lifelike performance from everyone acted in this film with no commercial add-ons in it.

- Points:

Comedy track is not appealing.

Although all songs are good, atleast one or two songs might be edited to keep pace of the film.

Unlike ‘Paruthi Veeran’, there is no strong reason revealed for the determination of Mari to marry Thangarasu.

Even if you blame destiny, the sad ending of the film could be avoided as it is deliberately done to leave a lump on your throat.

Final Comment:

We seldom get such a good film with clean narration, soft emotions and soil’s flavour that can be seen with family and children. So, please don’t miss it.

Abhiyum Naanum Movie Review

Movie: Abhiyum Naanum
Genre: Father – Daughter Sentiment
Cast: Prakashraj, Trisha, Aishwarya, Ganesh Venkatram, Prithviraj, Thalaivasal
Vijay
Director : Radha Mohan
Music: Vidyasagar
Produced by: Duet Movies

Story:

The story deals with the bonding between a normal father and his practical daughter. He is very much attached to his daughter and wants to retain her always with him even after finishing her Master Degree. But his daughter has her own plans about her life and marriage. How Prakashraj realises and adapts himself to his daughter’s stand is Abhiyum Naanum. The total film is portrayed as Prakashraj narrates about his daughter to Prithviraj(Guest appearance).

Raghuram(Prakashraj) and Anu(Aishwarya) are love married couple and Anu gives birth to Abhi(Trisha). From the day Abhi is born, parents give her abundant love and pamper her especially Raghuram is more attached to her. He always spends time with his daughter and gives friendly guidances needed by her. When she wants to do her MBA in Delhi, he refuses initially as he has to be part with her for 2 years but allows to her go as she says she can manage. When she returns home after MBA, she brings Joginder Singh alias Jogi(Ganesh Venkatram), a freelance journalist and economist, as her boy-friend and request consensus of her father to marry Jogi. Raghuram has his own doubts about Jogi, scares initially but later understands that Jogi is a very kind person and he will take care of his daughter like he did. Abhi marries Jogi and departs from her parents. This time, Raghuram does not cry and sendoff his daughter happily.

+ Points:

Prakashraj portrays the father’s role brilliantly and brings out emotions naturally. He did not overplay the role and just delivers feelings of a normal father. His preparations for admitting his daughter in Pre-KG, Interview with Principal, his tips for driving cycle, his walking on the road without shirt, his face-expressions when hugged by a Fatty Singh, his body language when talking to Prime Minister, etc brings out big smiles in audiences’ face.

Trisha, with No glamour, No duet and No artificial smiles this time, looks pretty and suits the character very well. She has played her role naturally.

Aishwarya, as a practically thinking mother, has done her character well. Her face-expressions are natural when Prakashraj wants to invite her parents for the marriage of their daughter.

If I have not heard his name as Ganesh Venkatram, I would have thought a Singh has acted in this film. Good work Ganesh Venkatram.

Kumaravel(Ravi Sasthri), Thalaivasal Vijay, Manobala add extra flavour to the film.

The biggest plus point of this film is humour. In almost all the scenes, there is a funny dialogue/action either in the starting or ending of the scene. So, your entertainment is ensured in each and every scene. Credits should be given to CP Narayanan and R Subramanian for their funny and crisp dialogues.

Thanks to Vidyasagar for ‘Orey Oru Ooriley’(Kailash Kher), ‘Vaa Vaa En Devadhaye’(Madhu Balakrishnan), ‘Pachchai Kaatrey’(Sadhana Sargam & Rehan Khan) & ‘Chinnamma Kalyanam(Kailash Kher). Vairamuthu touches our heart with his down-to-earth lyrics. Preetha with Camera captures hill locales pleasantly to the viewers delight.

Story, Screenplay and Direction are handled by Radha Mohan. Hats off to Radha Mohan for making such a good film that can be seen with family and children and bringing out natural performance from everybody acted in the film. When Prakashraj was interviewed after the success of ‘Mozhi’, he told the Press that ‘Mozhi’ is a kind of film that is not made; it happens. The Radha Mohan and Prakashraj duo do it, sorry, made it happen yet again in Abhiyum Naanum.

- Points:

Narration of the story is somewhat slow and Prakashraj covers the silver screen in 99.99% scenes but these complaints go unnoticed by the fun the film offers.

Final Comment:

I would say it is a Must Watch film for everyone especially to those who have recently been blessed with a female child. If you get a DVD, please grab it.

Vaaranam Aayiram Review

Movie: Vaaranam Aayiram
Genre: Drama
Cast: Surya, Sameera Reddy, Divya Spandana, Simran
Director: Gautham Vasudev Menon
Music: Harris Jayaraj
Produced by: Aascar Films
Released on: 14th November 2008

Story:

The story deals with the deep bonding between a friendly, caring and dedicated father and his son who has taken his father as his role model. The total film is portrayed in flashback mode from the view point of Son Surya (Surya). Son Surya gets the news of his father’s demise while proceeding to an army mission. From there he recollects his affiliations with his father in an autobiographical form.

Father Surya (Krishnan) loves Simran (Malini) and marries her. Son Surya grows well and overcomes challenges in his school days with the friendly guidance of his father. His college life at Trichy ends up with full of joy and entertainment. He meets Sameera Reddy (Meghna) in train on his way back from Trichy to Chennai. He loves her at first sight and proposes her. But she proceeds to Berkley University, USA for further studies. He goes to USA and stays with her for 90 days. Unfortunately, Sameera dies in a blast. Surya returns to India, goes to depressed state and becomes drug addict. His parents console him and motivate him to redeem himself. Then he joins army and marries Divya Spandana.

+ Points:

Surya’s performance is fabulous. He played the role that last for a life time. Unlike Kamal Hassan in Dasavatharam, he applied minimal and realistic make-up but portrayed various shades in a highly remarkable style. His make-up, get-up, body language and face-expressions at different ages of his life in this film are extremely natural. I heard of his father, veteran actor Sivakumar, saying on audio launch of this film that he did not eat normal food for 16 months to keep himself fit for this film; he ate only leaves and vegetables. Though it is commonly thought that he is not in the race for Super Star with Vijay and Ajith, he has strongly registered himself as a dedicated actor, after Kamal and Vikram, who can go to the extremes to give such a splendid performance.

Sameera Reddy is looking ravishingly sexy with her cool smile (is not she looking elder than Surya in a few scenes?). The entire romance thread between Sameera and Surya, song sequences are portrayed well and look cool to watch.

Simran with yesteryear make up and as a 50 year old lady is good. Her gracious and natural performance is very good.

Music of the film is excellent. All songs and background score are good. Especially ‘Nenjukkul Peithidum’, ‘Mun thinam paartheney’(does it suit 1960s trend?), ‘Adiye kolluthey’ are magnificent. Harris-Gautham combination did it yet again. Though there are many English Dialogues in this film, Tamarai’s pure tamil Lyrics adds value to the songs. Rathnavelu with Camera captures the mood of the film.

- Points:

First half of the film is good but the second half is too slow. Kidnap rescue episode and War sequences in the end test the patience of the audience.

With such loving and caring parents, how come Surya becomes drug addict? And the sudden decision of Surya to join army. These are deliberately added to reveal different dimensions of Surya in his multifaceted performance in this film.

I remember here Mr.K.Balachander said on audio launch of Kamal’s film ‘Virumandi’ at Madurai that Kamal is trying to present stuff of 2 or 3 films in a single film. But when you take a film in tribute of your father and you get an actor Surya with abundant skills and ready to deliver more than expected and you a get a producer Aascar Films and Harris Jayaraj how come we expect Gautham Menon to restrain himself and deliver just an ordinary commercial film?

Final Comment:

If you respect family sentiments and love natural performances, you are welcome to watch Vaaranam Aayiram for Surya for his stupendous performance and Harris for his superb music.

Nayanthara disproving theory!

Nayanthara appeared homely when introduced in ‘Ayya’ by Hari. Everybody lifted their eyebrow when they saw the Still of her lip bitten by Simbu in ‘Vallavan’. After pairing with her in ‘Chandramukhi’, Rajini used her in all his subsequent films ‘Sivaji The Boss’ and ‘Kuselan’. Kollywood audience went crazy after seeing her explosive appearance in ‘Billa’ (pairing Ajith). She appeared even more glamorous in ‘Satyam’ (pairing Vishal). Normally heroines act in glamorous roles initially and later transform themselves in homely and character roles successfully (example: Kushboo, Simran, etc).

But heroines who acted initially in homely characters failed later when they wanted to act in glamorous characters (example: Sneha). But Nayanthara disproved this theory and she transformed herself successfully from homely to glamorous characters. Not only had her performance gone up but also her remuneration. She is all set to stun Kollywood audience in her forthcoming movies ‘Villu’ (pairing Vijay) and ‘Dubai Rani’ (pairing Ravi Teja) the dubbed Tamil version of Telugu movie Dubai Seenu. Kollywood audience, Enjoy… Because of Nayanthara successful in Glamour there is more actresses are ready to show their curves to you… Beware more curves ahead because of Nayanthara.

What is Namitha's Real Age?

As all guys do in their leisure time, I and my friend were discussing about the 5’9” south Indian bombshell Namitha right from her entry in Tamil Cinema opposite Vijaykanth in Engal Anna, her sky-rocketing to fame with her song ‘Arjuna Arjuna’ opposite Sarathkumar in Aei, second actress to have temple by her fans after Kushboo to the 2nd most searched actress on the mobile according to a latest survey by Google’s 2008 India zeitgeist “Top searches on Mobile” lists. (There is a hot gossip that the busty babe is seen nude in a video and the link of that is being circulated hot in net. The girl is almost looking like Namitha (and some say that she is Namitha herself) who is changing her clothes in her caravan and she is seen complete topless exposing her front view fully).

The topic suddenly changed about her real age. My friend told me that she has just crossed her 20 on last May 10th. I could not believe it. But my friend has come up with her following quote to strengthen his statement - ‘Being the only girl among 25 cousins who were all guys, I used be like a boy. When I was in my tomboyish days, I used to eat 8 chapatis for lunch followed by 3-4 Rasgollas and gulabjamoons. I am a freak out when it comes to food. I am a pure vegetarian." She is plump but she is only 20, my friend continued. We decided to search net to know her real age but we both landed in confusion. Here are the results:

No actress reveals her real age in her first innings as heroine. Only after marriage or after 10+ years when she plays the role of young mother or young aunty in her second innings we get to know her age.

Whatever her age may be, till the lusty busty babe is generous enough in flaunting her voluptuous assets in silver screen she will be ruling the roost in South Indian Cinema especially in Kollywood.
